We had our wedding reception at Norton House on 15 May 2009 - and they upgraded us to the best suite in the hotel, which was fabulous. The spa is wonderful as is the food and service.

Great Location, but you require a vehicle should you wish to visit the nearby city.

The beautiful location, friendly, helpful staff, wonderful food - an all round lovely place to stay

    A bit expensive.

The Hotel was in a pleasant location which gave the impression of being in the countryside but was in fact at the edge of an industrial estate, The rooms and general areas of the hotel were comfortable. The spa and pool area were very nice and the staff at the spa were very friendly and helpful. Most of the satff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

The doors to the rooms within the older part of the hotel were very noisy and it was not possible to close them without them slamming - this unfortunate problem was common throughout the hotel and we were frequently disturbed by other guests closing their doors loudly at all hours of the day and night. The windows were single glazed sash windows - which whilst in keeping with the architectural nature of the hotel, were impractical for a hotel in this industrial area. In addition to this there was a wedding and hen party at the hotel during my four night stay (which we was not advised about- but saw the preparations on the Friday evening). Our room overlooked the garden and patio area at the back of the hotel and we were kept awake for several hours on the Saturday night/ Sunday Morning by the revellers from one or both of those events, who were allowed access to this garden area during the early hour of the morning. We complained several times to the hotel night staff, but were told that the wedding/party guests were responsible for the noise and implied that we should tolerate this, along with the loud partying in the room nextdoor to ours because it was a wedding. We were deeply unhappy about this attitude and felt that we were expected to tolerate this excessive disturbance because of the wedding guests (many of whom were not staying at the hotel) when we were paying resident guests at the hotel. I would have expected that area of the hotel to be closed before 2am (particualrly as there was an area at the front of the hotel where people could smoke if that was the reason they were outside). A further problem occurred on the Sunday morning as there also appeared to be some speedway motorbike racing (at least that is what it sounds like) in close vacinity to the hotel and it was impossible to sleep beyond 9am on a Sunday morning - which would not normally have been a problem for us, save that we had been kept awake most of the night by the wedding and hen...

staff was extremely friendly and helpful. food was excellent. business woman travelling on my own and felt made very welcome and cared for. spa area was great. very comfortable beds. got a free upgrade which is always nice. liked the cat which you put in front of your room door instead of non disturb sign. fresh milk in fridge for coffee/tea and lovely short bread. these touches made me feel more at home than in some other hotels.

cleanliness and products used for cleaning. when approaching the restaurant it smelt strongly of toilet cleaner - very off putting. also smells in spa area - steam room smelled strongly of cheap soap. consider adding peppermint oil to steam water - makes everybody feel invigorated and neutralizes other bad smells.

The hotel is located in extensive grounds very close to Edinburgh Airport but it has a rural feel since the outlook is fields and to the hills around Edinburgh. The new Spa is a great addition to the hotel. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are attentive and there is a general feeling of comfort and a bit of luxury. We were given an upgrade to a suite because we were recently married and the staff were very friendly and welcoming which was very nice and much appreciated. They were also very nice and helpful to my 3 daughters who were travelling with us.

Unfortunately our room was cold but it was a beautiful room and the weather outside was wintry. However, there was a very warm blanket available plus 2 fan heaters in the room. Our room service breakfast tray was missing some of the items we had requested and others were wrong. There was a pen and a piece of paper lying on the bathroom floor indicating it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned.

I did not like the fact the Hotel had not recevied my reservation and so were not expecting me. This is Booked.net resposnsibility not the Hotel's. I did not have a bath mat and a a result slipped and I have a 8 inch bruise on my right leg. When I asked the Hotel to get me a bath mat- I discovered when I got to my room that evening, I had no towels what so ever.

The room was spacy and bed was confortable. We arrived very Late flight and we are very pleased that we got Late sandwich at the pub with a good drinks before going to.bed. Good breakfast and a relaxing moment in the spa made our visit perfect.

The Spa and Pool facilities along with the staff there were excellent, along with the grounds. The reception service was good.

For a hotel of this quality there was little attention to detail, with the overall experience see sawing between excellent and could do much better

The staff was extremely nice and accomodating. If I needed anything, they made sure I got it.

The internet was out for one of the days that I was there. That was the only thing I didn't like.
